American Standard Manufacturing, Inc. was founded in 1990 for the specific purpose of producing high quality merchandising display cabinets for the grill cylinder exchange business, the brainchild of founder Coleman Vickary. That product line continues to set the industry standard for both durability and innovative design.

In addition to its original product line of merchandising display cabinets, ASMI broadened its scope to include propane motor-fuel cylinder storage (forklift) and high-pressure gas cylinder storage (welding and industrial). The ASMI line of high-pressure gas cylinder storage units includes a unique firewall option, which allows storage of fuel and oxygen in the same unit.

Further expansion into the realm of ergonomics led to the development of products designed to reduce the likelihood of worker injury while handling cylinders. Patented devices include the Little Giant Cylinder Inverter and the Forklift Cylinder Handler.
